The closing verse is textually difficult. The Hebrew וְיֵשׁ מֵהֶם נָשִׁים וַיָּשִׂימוּ בָנִים (*veyesh mehem nashim vayasimu vanim*) is cryptic — ancient versions including the LXX and 1 Esdras render it quite differently. More significantly, the mention of children is left entirely unresolved: the book ends without accounting for what became of these women and their sons and daughters. This is the Bible's unflinching honesty — covenant faithfulness can produce unbearable human consequences, and the narrator refuses to paper over them with false resolution. FOG retains 'fathered children' to preserve the paternal weight of the Hebrew; FOG Message uses 'had children by those wives' to ensure the relational tragedy is felt.
