כָּבוֹד (*kavod*) — literally 'weight' or 'heaviness'; Israel's term for YHWH's tangible, overwhelming Presence (cf. 3:22–23 for the valley vision). The dramatic irony is devastating: the very Presence the temple was built to house now stands as witness against its own desecration. The kavod will not be passive; its staged withdrawal in chapters 9–11 is already implicit in this moment of seeing. FOG retains 'kavod' untranslated to signal its theological freight; FOG Message uses 'glory,' the traditional covenantal term whose eventual loss will echo all the more painfully.
