The Hebrew כַּנְפוֹת (*kanafot*) literally means "wings," used idiomatically for the four extremities of the land—like the outstretched wingtips of a bird spanning the horizon. FOG preserves "wings" to honour the concrete, embodied imagery of the Hebrew, where cosmic geography is alive and feathered; FOG Message renders it as the more familiar "corners" without losing the sense of totality. The word אַדְמַת (*admat*) is also significant: not simply "land" in the abstract, but *soil*—the fertile ground YHWH gave them, now placed under sentence.
