He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

The Hebrew *kavod* (כָּבוֹד) carries the weight of substance, honour, and blinding luminosity—far richer than the English 'glory,' which can feel merely decorative. The arrival from the *east* is charged with narrative memory: the kavod had departed eastward (10:19; 11:23); its return now reverses the exile's catastrophe and undoes the departure verse by verse. *Ha-aretz* ('the land/earth') may refer specifically to the land of Yisra'el blazing with divine radiance as the kavod re-enters. FOG preserves 'kavod' and 'the land' for precision; FOG Message uses 'glory' and 'earth' to capture the cosmic scale of the homecoming.
