The phrase דֶּרֶךְ אַמָּה אֶחָת ('a way of one cubit') is architecturally puzzling and textually debated. Some interpreters read it as a retaining threshold or step of one cubit's depth rather than a separate passageway. The Septuagint renders it differently, suggesting early translators also found it unclear. FOG preserves the ambiguity as 'passage one cubit deep'; FOG Message smooths it into the description of the ten-cubit walkway. The northward orientation of the doorways is significant — the north was a zone associated with sacred assembly and priestly access throughout Ezekiel's vision.
