The Hebrew גִּזְרָה (gizrah) denotes a 'cut off' or 'separated' area — a zone of restricted access adjacent to the temple structure. Its root גזר ('to cut, divide') implies enforced separation, not merely physical distance. The same term appears in Ezek. 41:12–15, where it borders the mysterious rear building. FOG renders it 'restricted yard' to preserve the sense of enforced boundary; FOG Message uses 'restricted area' to foreground its function as a zone of sacred demarcation — a built-in reminder that nearness to Elohim is always regulated.
