The two columns (*ammudim*, עַמּוּדִים) flanking the temple porch directly echo Jachin and Boaz—the twin bronze pillars of Solomon's temple (1 Kgs. 7:15–22; 2 Chr. 3:15–17), each named with covenantal significance ('He will establish' and 'In Him is strength'). Their reappearance in Ezekiel's vision signals both continuity with the Davidic-Solomonic glory and the sure promise of its restoration. The ascending step count throughout the chapter—seven to the outer court, eight to the inner court, ten to the temple porch—creates an inexorable climactic gradient of holiness, the worshipper drawn step by step toward the enthroned Presence within. FOG uses 'pillars' for the *ammudim*; FOG Message renders 'great column' to honour their monumental, covenantal stature.
