The word לְבֵנָה (*levenah*) denotes a clay brick or tile — the very material Israel was forced to make under Pharaoh's lash in Mitzrayim (Exod. 1:14). Ezekiel's audience would have felt this echo immediately: the prophet enacts the destruction of the Holy City on the same humble stuff their ancestors made in slavery. The verb חָקַק (*chakak*) means to cut or inscribe deeply — not merely sketch. FOG preserves the material and historical resonance of a 'clay brick'; FOG Message renders it identically but frames the engraving as a prophetic act of declaration.
