Since the historical David had died centuries before Ezekiel wrote, 'My servant David' is an eschatological and messianic designation—pointing to a coming Davidic figure who will fulfil what David merely foreshadowed. The title *'eved* (servant) carries the full freight of the Isaianic Servant Songs (Isa. 42, 49, 52–53), linking this shepherd-king to the one who suffers and triumphs on behalf of the people. The singular *ro'eh 'echad* ('one shepherd') is pointed: against the many failed shepherds, there will be one who does not fail. The New Testament reads this as fulfilled in Yeshua/Jesus (John 10:11–16; Heb. 13:20; Rev. 7:17). FOG preserves 'My servant David' as the literal text; FOG Message draws out the Messianic continuity.
