The Hebrew שִׁיר עֲגָבִים (*shir agavim*) is literally a "song of lusts" or "erotic song" — the word עֲגָבִים (*agavim*) carries explicit erotic connotations (see also Ezek. 23:11), and deliberately echoes the same word used in v. 31 for what the people speak with their mouths. The double occurrence creates a damning portrait: their religious speech is seductive performance, and the prophet himself is received as mere entertainment. Ezekiel's proclamation is pleasurable, even captivating — but it engages no deeper faculty than sensation. The people are spiritually entertained, not transformed. FOG renders "love songs" to preserve the romantic register; FOG Message uses "romantic song," while this footnote recovers the erotic charge of the original and its verbal link to v. 31.
