*Tehom* (תְּהוֹם), the primordial deep, carries unmistakable echoes of Genesis 1:2 — the surging, chaotic waters over which Elohim hovered at creation. Here the tehom actively nurtures and exalts the great cedar, the same primal force that once required divine ordering now becoming the power base of a proud empire. This is Yechezkel at his most cosmologically daring: imperial power is rooted in the deep itself. FOG preserves *tehom* untranslated to retain its mythic resonance; FOG Message renders it 'the deep' for accessibility while still evoking the Genesis backdrop.
