Tel-Aviv (תֵּל אָבִיב) is not the modern Israeli city but an Akkadian place name: til abubi means 'mound of the flood-deluge'—ruins abandoned since the primordial catastrophe, a name that encodes exile itself. (The modern city took its name from this very verse, via Nahum Sokolow's 1902 translation of Herzl's Altneuland.) Mashomim (מַשְׁמִים) — 'stunned/appalled' — is the same root used of Daniel after his visions (Dan. 8:27). Ezekiel's seven-day silence also echoes the shiv'ah, the seven-day Jewish mourning period for the dead. FOG renders the place name transliterated and the stillness with raw sparseness; FOG Message adds 'overwhelmed' to give fuller emotional texture.
