Ha-golah (הַגּוֹלָה) — 'the exile' — is the technical term for the Judean deportee community in Babylon, of which Ezekiel himself was a member (1:1–3). The phrase 'your own people' (ammekha) is theologically pointed: YHWH identifies the prophet with the very community he must confront. The double formula 'whether they hear or whether they turn away' (im-yishme'u ve'im-yechdalu) opens a literary bracket that closes at v.27, framing the entire watchman commission. FOG preserves golah as a community-identity marker; FOG Message renders 'the exiles' for immediate comprehension.
