The mourning rites — dust on the head, rolling in ashes — are ancient Near Eastern expressions of extreme grief and solidarity with the dead, attested across Mesopotamian and Ugaritic texts as well as throughout the Hebrew Bible. *Yitpalashu* (יִתְפַּלָּשׁוּ), "roll themselves," suggests prostrate, uncontrolled, physically total lamentation. Jeremiah 6:26 and Micah 1:10 use the same rite for national catastrophe. These are not polite condolences — they are primal grief-performances, honouring Tyre's fall as a death of cosmic proportions. FOG uses "roll themselves in ashes"; FOG Message uses "writhe" to intensify the physicality.
