*Naphshah* (נַפְשָׁהּ) — 'her nephesh.' The *nephesh* is not the abstract Greek soul but the animating life-force: the throat that yearns, the appetite that drives, the whole being that hungers and recoils. Her nephesh had craved; her nephesh now turned away — the very organ of desire becomes the organ of disgust. This devastating cycle of craving and revulsion is Ezekiel's indictment of idolatrous covenant-breaking as ultimately self-defeating. FOG preserves 'nephesh' to hold the full semantic range; FOG Message uses 'soul' to access the covenantal register — a divorce of intimacy — pointing toward the grief of YHWH Himself in verse 18.
