The *ruah haqadim* (רוּחַ הַקָּדִים) — the east wind — is a wind of divine judgment throughout the Scriptures: it brought the locusts upon Mitzrayim (Shemot 10:13), divided the sea (14:21), and scorched Yonah's shade plant (Yonah 4:8). Here it is YHWH's sovereign breath of destruction upon the vine. The verb *hutash* (הֻתַּשׁ) — 'torn up, uprooted' — is violent and irreversible. *Hemah* (חֵמָה), translated 'fury,' is divine wrath at its most visceral. FOG preserves the raw sequence; FOG Message adds 'scorching' to the east wind to make the desiccating heat of exile felt.
