The tight synchronicity between cherubim and ophanim is the defining characteristic of the *merkavah* (divine chariot). The later Jewish mystical tradition—*merkavah* mysticism—took this chapter as its paradigmatic text for approaching the heavenly throne, treating every detail as charged with meaning. But even at a non-esoteric level, the inseparability of wings and wheels declares a theological truth: the divine Presence moves as a perfectly unified, living system.
