The Hebrew פָּקַד (paqad), rendered "visited," is a theologically charged verb meaning to attend to, reckon with, or act upon covenantally—it is not a casual visit. It is the key word of the Exodus promise (Gen. 50:24–25; Ex. 3:16), and its appearance here signals to the Israelites that the covenant has entered its moment of fulfilment. F.O.G uses "visited" to preserve this covenantal-technical register; F.O.G Message renders it "come to their rescue" to capture the full force of liberation these enslaved people would have felt—YHWH had finally moved.
