נֶפֶשׁ הַגֵּר (nefesh ha-ger): nephesh in its most embodied sense means throat, breath, hunger, life — the raw experience of a living creature in need. To "know the nephesh of the sojourner" is not abstract empathy; it is bodily, gut-level memory of vulnerability, displacement, and dependence. F.O.G renders "very being" to capture this full-person resonance; F.O.G Message says "in your very bones" to make the visceral nature of the memory felt.
