Three phrases carry notable weight. בַּסֵּפֶר (bassefer, "in the scroll/book") represents one of the earliest explicit commands in Scripture to write something down — a moment of canonical self-consciousness. "Put it in the ears of Joshua" (בְּאָזְנֵי, be'oznei) is a vivid Hebrew idiom for direct oral transmission — words poured into the hearing. And מָחֹה אֶמְחֶה (maho emcheh) is an emphatic infinitive absolute construction: "blotting out I will blot out" — absolute certainty, total erasure, brooking no qualification.
