אַשְׁמֹרֶת הַבֹּקֶר (ashmoret haboqer, "the morning watch") — the final third of the night, the darkest hour before first light. Salvation arrives precisely here — a pattern running through Israel's story and reaching its fullest expression in resurrection morning. וַיָּהָם (vayaham) — from hamam, to confuse, rout, or throw into disarray — conveys divine military action not through visible force but through internal chaos; the enemy is undone from within before a wave crashes over them.
