Day after day they challenged him, and day after day he refused to yield. Finally they brought it to Haman's attention, to see whether Mordecai's stand would hold — for he had told them he was a Jew.
When they had spoken to him day after day and he would not listen to them, they reported it to Haman to see whether Mordekhai's resolve would hold — for he had told them that he was a Yehudi.
