ἀπόστολος (apostolos) translates the Jewish legal concept of the shaliach (שָׁלִיחַ, "sent one") — a fully authorised representative whose word and action carry the legal weight of the one who sent him: "the shaliach of a man is as the man himself" (m. Berakhot 5:5). The F.O.G uses "shlichim" (plural of shaliach) to restore this covenantal-legal framework. Also notable: ποιμένας καὶ διδασκάλους (pastors and teachers) share a single Greek article, suggesting one group with a dual function rather than two entirely distinct offices — the Granville Sharp construction applies here.
