He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

אֱלֹהִים חַיִּים (Elohim hayyim), 'the living God,' is a title stressing divine vitality and active presence in sharp contrast to dead idols who cannot speak, act, or sustain life. It becomes a programmatic title in the prophets (Jer. 10:10; Dan. 6:26) and into the New Testament (Matt. 16:16; Heb. 9:14; 1 Tim. 4:10). The people's terror is not ignorance but wisdom: to stand before the living God is categorically different from encountering any created power. FOG preserves 'living Elohim'; FOG Message uses 'living God,' carrying the full confessional weight of that title into later revelation.
