The Hebrew וַיִּקְבֹּר (*vayyiqbor*, "and he buried him") uses a singular verb whose most natural referent is YHWH—God Himself buried Moses. The Talmud (Sotah 14a) draws precisely this conclusion, reading it as God performing the ultimate act of loving-kindness (*chesed shel emet*, true covenant-love) for one who cannot be repaid. The location—opposite Beit-Pe'or, site of Israel's catastrophic idolatry with the Baal of Peor (Num. 25)—may be deliberately redemptive: the servant of YHWH laid to rest facing the scene of the worst failure, his grave a wordless act of grace. The unknown burial place also serves as divine protection against shrine veneration. FOG preserves the MT singular "He buried him," affirming divine agency; FOG Message uses a passive construction, allowing the mystery to breathe while remaining linguistically faithful.
