He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

*Ve'he'asef el-amecha* (be gathered to your people) is one of the Hebrew Bible's most tender death idioms — death not as annihilation but as reunion with the ancestral community of the dead. The phrase occurs across Genesis for the patriarchs (25:8, 17; 35:29; 49:29, 33; 50:33) and here forms a final bracket: Moshe's death is placed alongside Aharon's in the same dignified language. The parallel deaths of the two brothers — both on mountain summits, both by divine decree, both within sight of the Promised Land — are a paired testimony to the cost of leadership and the severity of YHWH's holiness.
