The threefold af, chemah, qetzef (anger, fury, great wrath) builds to a judicial crescendo. The verb vayashlikhem ('and He hurled/cast them') is violent—the same root used in Jer. 7:15 and 52:3 for the exile. Ka'yom ha-zeh ('as it is to this day') is a Deuteronomic formula acknowledging a present reality already known to the audience—Moses speaks proleptically, as if the exile has already occurred, lending the passage its haunting, inevitable quality. Both translations render the violence of uprooting; FOG Message adds 'towering' to convey the scale of qetzef ('great/enormous wrath').
