Footnotes
Shiqqutzim ('abominations/detestable things') is Deuteronomy's sharpest term for foreign gods and their associated worship, carrying connotations of ritual contamination and moral revulsion. The progression from cheap materials (wood and stone) to costly ones (silver and gold) suggests that wealth multiplies rather than moderates the temptation to idolatry. The material inventory finds a later echo in Dan. 5:4, where Belshazzar toasts gods of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone. FOG uses 'abominations' to retain the judicial weight of shiqqutz; FOG Message uses 'detestable things' for immediate visceral impact.
