It is Jean Paul's lifelong work, unfolding in public — and you're invited in.

He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

עֶבֶד עוֹלָם (*eved olam*, 'servant for life') — *olam* can mean 'for a very long time,' 'for life,' or 'perpetually' depending on context; here it almost certainly means 'for life,' a permanent bond of voluntary service rather than eternal bondage. The piercing of the ear at the door — the threshold of the household — is a bodily covenant-marking, embedding the relationship in the architecture of belonging. Deuteronomy here explicitly extends this provision to female servants (v. 17b), a significant expansion beyond the Exodus 21 legislation. Both FOG and FOG Message render *olam* as 'for life,' the most defensible contextual reading.
