Footnotes
The Hebrew reads *ke'asher yissa ish et-beno* — 'as a man carries his son,' using *ish* (man/father figure) rather than *av* (father directly). The image is physical: a father hoisting a tired child. This covenantal sonship language resonates across the canon — Exod 4:22 ('Israel is My firstborn son'), Hos 11:1 ('out of Egypt I called My son') — and reaches its fullest expression in the Son who embodied it perfectly. Both versions honour the image's depth.
