Footnotes
*Ger* (גֵּר — sojourner/resident alien) is a legally significant Torah category: not a full citizen, not an enemy, but a protected class. The extension of impartial justice to the *ger* is a remarkable covenantal ethic — justice transcends ethnic boundaries. FOG retains *ger* to preserve its social-legal specificity; FOG Message renders it 'foreigner living among you' to make the inclusion plain for contemporary readers.
