"muaf biv'af" is one of the most debated phrases in this chapter: the root עוּף (uph) = to fly gives "swift in flight"; but the form may also derive from יָעֵף (ya'ef) = to be weary/exhausted, suggesting Gabriel arrived worn out — possibly from heavenly conflict, as in 10:13 where Michael must assist him. The FOG holds both meanings in tension; the FOG Message favours the "swift flight" reading. "Minkhah" = the afternoon grain/oblation offering, a set liturgical prayer-hour (cf. Ezra 9:5), anchoring the heavenly visitation within Israel's sacred time.
