ἀχειροποιήτῳ (acheiropoiētō, "not-made-by-hands") elsewhere describes the true heavenly sanctuary versus the earthly copy (Mark 14:58; Hebrews 9:11), giving this circumcision the quality of the eternal and divine. ἀπεκδύσει (apekdusei) is a vivid compound meaning a violent, complete stripping off—and crucially the same root reappears in v.15 for the disarming of the cosmic powers, creating a deliberate verbal link: the stripping of our flesh and the stripping of the powers are bound together in the Messiah's death.
