סֻכַּת דָּוִיד (Sukkat David), "the Sukkah of David," is deliberately not the Temple (הֵיכַל, hekhal) nor the palace (אַרְמוֹן) — it is the humblest temporary shelter, the kind erected at the Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot. The word signals that the Davidic dynasty has been reduced to a makeshift lean-to; yet YHWH promises to rebuild it from ruin. The FOG preserves "Sukkah" for its full Jewish liturgical resonance; the FOG Message renders "shelter" to make the humility tangible in English. James quotes this verse (from the LXX) in Acts 15:16–17 as the scriptural warrant for Gentile inclusion in the restored covenant community — one of the most consequential messianic applications in the New Testament.
