פָּרוֹת הַבָּשָׁן (parot ha-Bashan) — Bashan was famed across the ancient Near East for its fat, well-fed cattle (cf. Ps 22:12; Deut 32:14; Ezek 39:18), making the address to these wealthy Samaritan women a deliberately shocking insult. אֲדֹנֵיהֶם (adonehem) is the plural of adon — "lord/master" — not the ordinary word for husband; F.O.G preserves "lords" to honour the social register of these high-status households, while F.O.G Message normalises to "husbands" for natural English flow, since the social dynamic is implied either way.
