The Hebrew yada' is not merely intellectual knowledge but covenantal intimacy — the same word used for a husband knowing his wife. F.O.G preserves "known" to keep that relational warmth and the shocking irony: the closer the covenant, the sharper the reckoning. F.O.G Message renders it "chosen" to surface the election theology that drives the logic for modern readers, though it risks losing the intimacy of the original. The verb paqad, translated "reckon with" and "hold accountable," means to purposefully visit, attend to, or audit — a far more active and personal word than abstract "punishment."
