παραγγελίᾳ παρηγγείλαμεν (parangelia parēngeilamen) — "strictly commanded" — a Semitic-style cognate intensifier using both the noun and verb of the same root, equivalent to the Hebrew infinitive absolute construction. It means something like "we commanded you with a command" — the strongest possible way to express a binding prohibition. Both versions attempt to render this forcefulness with "strictly."
