When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "This man must be a murderer — he was saved from the sea, but the goddess Justice will not let him survive."
When the islanders saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "This man must be a murderer — he escaped the sea, but Dikē herself has not let him live."
And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
