Εὐρακύλων (Euraquilo) — a compound of Greek euros (east wind) and Latin aquilo (north wind), a violent northeast to east-northeast gale notorious in the Mediterranean. F.O.G preserves the ancient nautical name; F.O.G Message renders its directional meaning for clarity. Some manuscripts read Euroklydon ("broad-wave raiser"), but Euraquilo has stronger attestation.
