τοῦ εὐαγγελιστοῦ (tou euangelistou) — "the evangelist" — a formal title occurring only here, Ephesians 4:11, and 2 Timothy 4:5, distinguishing Philip from his role in Acts 6 as one of the Seven appointed to serve tables. The title marks a specific commissioned function — proclaimer of the good news — not merely an informal activity. This Philip is carefully differentiated from the apostle Philip throughout Acts.
