Then Absalom unexpectedly came face to face with David's troops. He was riding a mule, and as the animal passed beneath the spreading branches of a massive oak, Absalom's head was snared in the tree. The mule kept running — leaving him hanging there between heaven and earth.
Now Avshalom happened to come before Dawid's servants. Avshalom was riding on a mule, and as the mule passed beneath the thick boughs of a great terebinth, his head caught fast in the terebinth and he was left suspended between the skies and the ground, whilst the mule beneath him went on.
And Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away.
Now Absalom was riding on his mule when he met the servants of David, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom’s head was caught fast in the tree. The mule under him kept going, so that he was suspended in midair.
