The king gave Joab, Abishai, and Ittai one personal charge: 'For my sake, deal gently with young Absalom.' Every soldier heard the king speak this plea to each of his commanders about Absalom.
The king commanded Yoav, Avishay, and Ittai: 'Deal gently with the young man Avshalom — for my sake.' All the troops heard when the king gave every commander his orders concerning Avshalom.
And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.
Now the king had commanded Joab, Abishai, and Ittai, “Treat the young man Absalom gently for my sake.” And all the people heard the king’s orders to each of the commanders regarding Absalom.
