One day a traveler arrived at the rich man's door. But instead of cooking one of his own sheep or cattle for his guest, he seized the poor man's little lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.'
A wayfarer came to the wealthy man, but he was loath to take from his own flock or herd to prepare a meal for the traveller who had come to him. So he took the poor man's ewe-lamb and prepared her for the man who had come to him.'
And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
Now a traveler came to the rich man, who refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for his guest.”
