When spring came around — the time when kings lead their armies to battle — David sent Joab out with his officers and all Israel. They devastated the Ammonites and laid siege to Rabbah. But David himself stayed behind in Jerusalem.
At the return of the year, at the season when kings march out, Dawid sent Yo'av and his servants with him, and all Yisra'el. They ravaged the B'nei Ammon and besieged Rabbah — while Dawid remained sitting in Yerushalayim.
And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
In the spring, at the time when kings march out to war, David sent out Joab and his servants with the whole army of Israel. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem.
