"μακροθυμεῖ" (makrothymei) compounds makros ("long") and thymos ("passion/heat/anger") — literally "long-heated," the sustained smouldering forbearance that refuses to snap. It is a cardinal covenantal attribute, echoing Exodus 34:6 (erekh apayim — long of nostril, slow to anger). The verse's scope — "any… all" — is left as open in both translations as Kefa leaves it in the Greek.
