He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

Footnotes

Paradotheisēs ('delivered/handed over') comes from paradidōmi — the precise technical term for the transmission of sacred tradition (1 Cor 11:23; 15:3; Jude 3: 'the faith once for all delivered to the saints'). The 'holy commandment' is not one regulation but the entire apostolic deposit of faith. To have received it solemnly and then walked away is not neutral ignorance — it is the betrayal of a sacred trust.
