Jezebel's taunt names Zimri — the army officer who assassinated King Elah of Israel and seized the throne, only to reign for seven days before his palace was burned over him (1 Kings 16:9–20). The comparison is a blade: Zimri was the archetypal treacherous upstart who came to nothing. By calling Jehu "Zimri," Jezebel is either prophesying his doom, pronouncing a curse, or enacting a last act of queenly contempt from the window of her power. Her use of *ha-shalom* — "Is it peace?" — also echoes the chapter's refrain (vv. 17–22), now weaponised. Both translations preserve the taunt intact.
