The king had put that same officer — the one whose arm he had leaned on — in charge of the gate. But the surging crowd trampled him to death in the gateway. It happened exactly as the man of God had declared when the king came down to him.
The king had appointed that shalish — on whose arm he had leaned — to be in charge of the gate. But the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died — just as the man of Elohim had spoken when the king came down to him.
And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.
