This unspeakable horror fulfils with awful literalism the covenant curse of Deuteronomy 28:53–57, where Moshe warned that siege conditions would drive Yisra'el to cannibalism of their own children. The text neither sensationalises nor softens: it records the consequence with stark precision. The grotesque detail that the woman appeals to the king as a *judge* — seeking enforcement of what she sees as a broken agreement — exposes how entirely covenant, law, and humanity have broken down within the city walls.
