The *b'nei ha-nevi'im* ('sons of the prophets') were communities of prophetic apprentices or associates gathered around senior prophets like Elisha. The term does not imply biological sonship but guild membership — a prophetic school or brotherhood. Their concern here is practical and domestic: their communal space has become overcrowded, suggesting the movement around Elisha was growing. FOG renders the group designation literally to preserve its Hebraic communal flavour; FOG Message uses 'company of the prophets' to communicate the same social reality in natural English.
